Oh hey! It’s Siobhan! I’m so glad you’ve made your way to my site and feel ready to maybe even start getting to know each other a little more.
My background is in graphic design and visual communication which I am still extremely passionate about to this day. Creativity has been a core part of my life since I was 15. However, when I was 17, I was diagnosed with IBS. If you have ever worked in something you are truly 100% passionate about you may understand why this happens. My creativity took over my mental health as I was putting my work before everything else in my life.
I discovered I had IBS when I went to the doctors due to severe stomach cramps. The doctors advised me it was stress and gave me tablets. When I asked how long I would be on the tablets for, they said ‘until I was better’. A panicked thought ran through my head, thinking there was a possibility of being on these tablets for life and I quickly realised I needed to do something about my situation.
For the next few years, I took it upon myself on a long journey to change my diet, lifestyle, mental habits and rewire my entire belief system. I spent hours on the internet, read books, tested recipes, travelled, dedicated myself to yoga and took a step back from letting work control my life.
After all this learning, I felt like I had come full circle and started considering how I could combine my degree and masters in design with my new found desire for good health. Friends and family started coming to me for advice and asking how I knew certain recipes to cook and how I had gotten into yoga etc. I had the idea of starting a blog as an addition to my website connecting users to health educational resources – books I’d learnt from, role models, videos, events, courses etc.
I feel it’s both my passion and purpose to connect design, tech and health with education. It was the very thing which saved and changed my life and I couldn’t imagine a better gift to give to others.
